The Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory (SL-TDI) is a self description. It provides you with an opportunity to clarify your own personality as you see it now. As you grow and develop, your pattern may change somewhat. If you take the Inventory in a year or so, you may be able to see how you have changed.
The SL-TDI is a key to understanding the nature of your own habit patterns, your usual ways of approaching tasks or situations. One way of reacting is not better or worse than any other, but there are differences. Each person tends to respond more frequently in some ways than in others.
There are no right or wrong anwers. The SL-TDI is not a measure of intelligence. It is not an indicator of emotional problems. It does not show how well you function in comparison to other people.
There is a maximim time limit of 90 minutes for this Inventory, but most people complete it in under an hour. It is best not to linger over the situations. Indicate what you would actually do in a situation such as the one described. The Inventory is not designed to create a portrait of what you "should" do or of the "right" thing to do in the situations. The SL-TDI is designed to provide you with results based on what you actually would do.
You will be presented with 20 situations. Each situation has 8 responses to that situation. After each response there are 5 choices ranging from 'Rarely' to 'Almost Always'.
For each response, indicate how closely that response corresponds to what you actually would do. Using your mouse, select the button under the appropriate column heading. You must indicate a choice for each of the eight responses shown. When you have completed one page, click on the 'Next' button and continue on the next page. In all, you will have 20 situations to complete for a total of 160 responses.
If there is a situation in which you cannot possibly imagine yourself, you may skip that situation entirely, and skip the corresponding eight items on your score sheet. However, if at all possible, try to answer all items and every situation.
